Inspection Guide

The Calaveras County Environmental Health Department (EHD) is required to begin inspecting Food Generators (Tier One and Tier Two), and Food Recovery Organizations/Services.
 

Timeline for Inspections

  • Beginning January 1, 2022, Tier One Food Generators and Food Recovery Services/Organizations will be inspected for compliance. For compliance requirements, please click here.
  • Beginning January 1, 2024, Tier Two Food Generators will be inspected for compliance. For compliance requirements, please click here.

Timeline for Compliance

  • Tier One Food Generators will be required to begin their food recovery agreements by January 1, 2022.
  • Tier Two Food Generators will be required to begin their food recovery agreements by January 1, 2024.

Timeline for Enforcement

  • Prior to January 1, 2024, EHD is required to respond to SB 1383 food recovery violations by providing educational materials describing the applicable requirements. 
  • Beginning January 1, 2024, EHD is required to begin enforcing SB 1383 food recovery requirements in response to violations.
  • SB 1383 food recovery violations are a public nuisance and may be enforced as such.
